LISA HACKETT

Deputy Director

Lisa began her work fighting for educational equity in New York City 20 years ago as a middle school science teacher at a Children’s Aid Community School in Washington Heights. Her experience strongly influenced the vision of the school she later co-founded in the same neighborhood and led as its middle school principal. Most recently, she worked as a Senior Managing Director of Programs at Teach For America, supporting schools, growing teacher leaders, and building partnerships in almost every educational setting across New York City. As Lisa comes full circle back to Community School work, she hopes to bring the perspective and lessons she has gained along the way into her role as the Deputy Director of the National Center for Community Schools.
