Meeting the Moment: Leveraging Federal Relief to Grow Community Schools

Community schools -- a strategy to organize the resources and voices of schools and communities around student success -- are needed now more than ever, and new federal relief and recovery dollars present an important opportunity to transform our nation's schools into dynamic, child-centered platforms that generate solutions and advance equity.

We were pleased to be joined by  Moderator Noelle Ellerson Ng, Associate Executive Director, Advocacy & Governance, AASA. Dr. Brenda Cassellius, superintendent, Boston Public Schools; Martin Blank, founding director, Coalition for Community Schools; and Abe Fernandez, director, National Center for Community Schools, who dove deeper into why every school should be a community school and how the American Rescue Plan and other streams of funding offer an unprecedented opportunity to start-up, sustain and scale community schools.
